Marni and I were reviewing some of our fighter verses today. The fighter verse system is something we picked up when we were at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN and have been trying to maintain here in Riverside, CA. Here are a few of the the recent verses:
Psalm 27:4-5 – To recite February 16 & 17
“One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.”
Psalm 27:13-14 – To recite February 23 & 24
“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”
Philippians 2:10b-11 – To recite March 1 & 2
“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
The idea is that 1-2 verses is memorized every week, and then can be corporately recited as a family or church gathering on the weekend. The benefits are numerous.
