I’m a big fan of Modern Parables–a twelve-week study on Jesus’ parables set in modern-day contexts intended to illicit, through the power of film, a gut-level reaction. Modern Parables is in no way intended to replace the study of Jesus’ parables themselves. Rather, by arresting viewers through a brief, powerfully conveyed rendition of Jesus’ stories, we are driven back to our Bibles to look more intently at what Jesus was trying to accomplish in the lives of His hearers.
Now, for a limited time, they have graciously made all six Modern Parable films available in iPod/iTunes format for free downloads. These are low resolution download versions that look great on an iPod and can be played on any computer with iTunes.
In addition, one can purchase DVD-quality ($19.99) or HD-quality films ($26.99). Each downloadable package includes one parable film, one application video, a director’s commentary, and a combined Student Book/Teacher’s Guide on PDF. (Each of the six parable films has an associated application video, which features pastors and scholars such as Scotty Smith and Dan Doriani explaining Jesus’ original parable, and how the modern parable sought to present the same truths.)
I previously posted this review of Modern Parables.
