After my Thriving at College interviews a few weeks ago with Focus on the Family (to be broadcast on May 14-15) I had the pleasure of spending time with Dr. Jerry Bridges, an outstanding author and long-time servant with the Navigators. This past Thursday Dr. Bridges underwent heart surgery to repair or replace his mitral valve. His daughter later sent this update to Desiring God ministries:
We are rejoicing that Dad’s surgery has been successful! Two valves were repaired – the mitral valve and the tricuspid valve and all went well. He is in ICU and will be here for the next 24 hours to ensure there is no leakage and that the heart patterns return to normal. Please continue to pray that he would remain stable.
Please be in prayer that Dr. Bridges will heal well. Apparently, the recovery process will require significant work on his part. (He mentioned 6-7 weeks of such work in our conversation.)
