Peggy Noonan weighs in on the significance of Senator Obama's victory and reflects on Senator Clinton's campaign (and why she won't be his running mate). And Dick Morris attempts to explain Clinton's decision to suspend her campaign today, but not relinquish her delegates to Obama. Upshot: She is still playing the game. Excerpt: Hillary wants to be there to exploit any mistakes. She will be watching and waiting. Suppose Obama flubs a line on the campaign trail or damaging material emerges from the Rezko prosecution? Hillary will indicate her continued availability as an alternative. … [Read more...] about Morris and Noonan on Clinton’s (Partial?) Concession

Obama, Clinton, and McCain – A Few Thoughts
First off, congratulations to Senator Obama. He ran a long, tough race against not one but two Clintons. And he has become the first black presidential nominee from a major political party in the United States of America. I'll probably have more to say about Obama's voting record and agenda later. But for now, I wanted to acknowledge his singular accomplishment. I agree with Dick Morris; Obama should not pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate. For one, she's already been VP, and would bring her own agenda to the table--an agenda that would continue to compete with his. Her defiant … [Read more...] about Obama, Clinton, and McCain – A Few Thoughts
Burma Disaster Relief Fund
I got a note from Sovereign Grace Ministries a couple weeks ago: As disaster-relief efforts continue in Burma, Sovereign Grace Ministries has the opportunity to provide assistance through ministry relationships we have in that country. We are establishing a Burma Disaster Relief fund and are contributing financially toward aid efforts in Burma. Any who would like to join us in this effort can donate to the Burma Disaster Relief fund via our website. Most importantly, please join us in praying that amid the destruction caused by Cyclone Nargis, victims of the storm would receive swift and … [Read more...] about Burma Disaster Relief Fund
A Nation of Wimps – Reviewed by Tony Woodlief
Awhile ago I spoke positively about an interesting new book by Hara Estroff Marano entitled A Nation of Wimps: The High Cost of Invasive Parenting. Marano is an award-winning writer and editor-at-large for Psychology Today, which published this lengthy review article of the book. I have not read or seen Marano's book yet, but I was happy to read what seems to be a balanced WSJ review by Tony Woodlief, himself a Christian blogger. Woodlief argues that Marano is on the mark in critiquing the invasiveness and over-protection tendencies of many parents today who guard their children from risks … [Read more...] about A Nation of Wimps – Reviewed by Tony Woodlief
Farewell to Senator Clinton
Look for some compromise on the status of the Michigan and Florida delegates when the 30-member Democratic Party panel meets later today, but not one that sufficiently eats into Obama's delegate lead. Meanwhile, Charles Krauthammer pens what is probably the best assessment I've read on Clinton's failed candidacy. An excerpt: It wasn't until late in the fourth quarter that she figured out the seam in Obama's defense. In fact, Obama handed her the playbook with Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, Michelle Obama's comments about never having been proud of America and Obama's own guns-and-God … [Read more...] about Farewell to Senator Clinton
Albert Mohler on the Uniqueness of Humans
Albert Mohler writes: Few questions are more important than this -- Are humans unique? Or, put in other words, is there any basis for human dignity and for treating humans with special respect? It is now frighteningly clear that secular science is inadequate to answer that question. The May 24-30, 2008 edition of New Scientist, an influential British journal of science, features a cover story that raises this very question. "Human beings are obviously unique," the headline declares. "But it's surprisingly hard to say why." As the actual cover article indicates, there is very little that makes … [Read more...] about Albert Mohler on the Uniqueness of Humans
