A leading Christian, Robert George, and a leading Muslim, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, sent hotel industry executives a letter last week: We write to ask you to stop offering pornographic movies in your company’s hotels. We make no proposal here to limit your legal freedom, nor do we threaten protests, boycotts, or anything of the sort. We simply ask you to do what is right as a matter of conscience. We are, respectively, a Christian and a Muslim, but we appeal to you not on the basis of truths revealed in our scriptures but on the basis of a commitment that should be shared by all people of reason … [Read more...] about Pornography and the Hotel Industry

"Like the market for skin care products, the market for credentials is inexhaustible: as the … [Read more...] about Death by Degrees
The Discovery of the Higgs Boson
Joe Carter answers the question that's been keeping many of you up at night: What is the "God particle"? "God particle" is the nickname for the Higgs boson, a particle that was proposed in the 1960s by British physicist Peter Higgs as a way of explaining why other particles have mass. Theoretically, the Higgs particle is responsible for mass, without which there would be no gravity---and no universe. Carter goes on to address where this odd term came from, how the particle is related to the Big Bang theory, and whether the discovery of the Higgs Boson (a.k.a., "God particle") is evidence … [Read more...] about The Discovery of the Higgs Boson
Reducing Costs in Higher Education

Walker announced: The unique self-paced, competency-based model will allow students to start classes anytime and earn credit for what they already know. Students will be able to demonstrate college-level competencies based on material they already learned in school, on the job, or on their own, as soon as they can prove that they know it. By taking advantage … [Read more...] about Reducing Costs in Higher Education
