Justin Taylor's post captures what I was thinking as I watched some of the Democratic National Convention last night. The Democrats have chosen a new tact this year in explicitly highlighting and celebrating their support of unrestricted legal abortion. It’s an interesting strategy, given that those self-identifying as “pro-choice” are at a recorded-low. The theme, however, is consistent with the fact that President Obama—whether you agree or disagree with his philosophy in other areas—has to be acknowledged as the most extreme presidential advocate of abortion-rights in American political … [Read more...] about Democratic National Convention Highlights Unrestricted Legal Abortion

What are the similarities between the temptation of Adam and the temptation of Jesus? The similarity is basically this: Satan attacked both of them at exactly the same point - the trustworthiness of the Word of God. John Piper: The Calvinists I have known (English Puritans, Edwards, Newton, Spurgeon, Packer, Sproul) are not logic driven, but Bible-driven. It’s the challengers who bring their logic to the Bible and nullify text after text. Branches are lopped off by “logic,” not exegesis. Who are the great enjoyers of paradox today? Who are the pastors and theologians who grab both horns of every biblical dilemma and swear to the God-Man: I will never let go of either. Not the Calvinism-critics that I meet. They read of divine love, and say that predestination cannot be. They read of human choice … [Read more...] about Calvinists are not Logic Driven
